During the two days of workshop participants can acquire the essential stitch methods to apply especially on felt. From the basic processes like joining up two felt pieces, we get into advanced techniques to form a plastic surface with an insight to decorative stitches. Attendees will plan a felt object and design patterns to decorate it to form a relief structure by quilting.
We start from having a lovely piece of felt to have enough time for designing and realizing, therefore you’re kindly asked to bring your own piece created for the workshop. Please make your felt thick (approx. 5-8 mm from 6-8 layers of wool) and strong, solid enough for stitching. A smaller felt object will be realized. Recommended themes: a pair of felt slippers or a belt/side bag.
If you want to concentrate on plastic stitching, you can choose to create a plain panel with an ornamented relief surface for later use as a sitting mat, a cushion or a tabletop. You can bring your own theme or join one of the recommended themes. Some forms and patterns will be provided, such as all materials for stitching (yarns, needles). Some felt pieces will be available to purchase from tutor. Please, contact Vanda in case of any questions or requests.
